Laura Dern, Ben Harper Divorce

Laura Dern and Ben Harper have finally decided to go through with a divorce.  They encountered doubts about their relationship since 2010.  They have been married since 2005 and have 2 children together.  In 2010, Harper blindsided Dern with divorce papers.  A reconciliation was in process but Dern reinstated the divorce papers in 2012.  According to US magazine, Dern filed a formal legal response to Harper’s divorce petition in LA County Superior Court.

In her petition, Dern demanded that she be granted primary custody of their 2 children.    Dern hired “Disso Queen” Laura Wasser to prepare the documents that asks for primary physical custody of the couple’s children for Dern and joint legal custody.  In addition to custody of the children, Dern is also seeking spousal support, child support, and attorney’s fees.  Her attorney notes, “ Dern is already the primary caregiver for the couple’s two kids” and should be given full custody of her children.  Harper cited irreconcilable differences in the filing and asked that spousal support be denied to Dean.  He encourages that the custody of their children be shared between the both of them.

After a year of attempting to repair their marriage after a year, it was time to finalize the divorce.  The divorce petition was signed off in Los Angeles Superior Court and the terms of the divorce are confidential.

Divorce Drama for Dodger CEO

Dodger CEO, Jaime McCourt, has motioned to throw out her settlement with her ex-husband, Frank McCourt.  She insists that he has misled her regarding the complete value of their Dodger ownership.  She settled her divorce with Frank with $131 million from their ownership.  However, Frank sold the Dodgers for $2 billion a few months after their settlement.  This enraged Jaime and encouraged her to file a motion against her own settlement.

Scott Gordon, Superior Court Judge ruling on McCourt’s motion, denied the motion for having little to no evidence to prove that she was cheated of money through the Dodgers.  The rule was not unexpected and Jaime’s attorney planned to appeal it.  Gordon based his ruling with Jaime McCourt stating that she “had the information, knowledge, experience and evidence that the value of the Dodger assets was greater than what she indicates in her moving papers, which she replied upon in entering into the settlement of this matter.”

Jaime and Frank McCourt divorced in Oct 2010, and just less than a year later, the Dodgers went bankrupt.  She took from their divorce $131 million tax-free and many luxurious homes while Frank decided to sell the Dodgers.  There are court documents that were filed that states that Jaime McCourt did an estimate value of the team, the Dodger Stadium, as well as the parking lots around the stadium, which totaled to $2 billion. While Frank did not testify over the motion from Jaime, one of his attorneys did voice that Frank paid more than $460 million in state and federal taxes after the sale of the Dodgers.

Melissa Etheridge- Child Custody on Tour?

Melissa Etheridge, rock singer-songwriter, made a point to keep custody of her twins as she goes on tour.  Her ex, Tammy Lynn Michaels, initiated the debate by requesting an emergency hearing regarding the case of their 6 year old twins.

The court documents that Tammy filed explained that she was worried about her children’s health in an environment with nudity and drugs as they go on tour.  She suggests that Melissa’s fans oftentimes throw their shirts and bras on the stage, as well as smoking marijuana.  According to these documents, Tammy wanted her children to be vaccinated against Diphtheria, Tetanus, Measles, Mumps, Chicken Pox, and other diseases because of that.  However, Melissa noted in the court documents that the couple agreed, before their separation, that their children would not get their vaccinations.  The court did not accept Tammy’s request for an emergency hearing, and instead scheduled a court date for August.

On August 30, 2013, Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels fought in court regarding the custody of their children during Melissa’s tour.  Tammy’s request for custody of her kids was denied, leaving Melissa with the privilege of bringing her kids to 7 shows of her latest tour.
