Adrienne Maloof and Paul Nassif’s Divorce Battle

Shocking details about Adrienne Maloof and Paul Nassif’s divorce have recently emerged, reports People. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills couple bickered on the show, but their relationship is apparently much darker than the reality show portrayed.

Nassif and Maloof were married in 2002 and have three children, 9-year-old Gavin and 6-year-old twins, Christian and Collin. Nassif filed for divorce on August 28 citing irreconcilable differences. He filed for joint custody and Maloof responded with a request for primary custody.

Nassif is claiming that Maloof calls him terrible names, has “unpredictable”, “toxic” behavior in front of the children, and once hit him in the face and chest and kicked him in the legs. Maloof also claims that her ex is violent and often shoves her to the ground and pulls her hair. Furthermore, she says that Nassif carries an unlocked gun in his briefcase and their children are scared of him.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court will need to look into the details of their marriage, hear from eye witnesses, and assess their claims thoroughly to determine what is best for the children. Sources and attorneys from both parties are denying the accusations. It’s unclear what the absolute truth is, but it’s unfortunate that children are often caught in an ugly custody battle. The LA County Superior Court will take the domestic violence claims very seriously, and hopefully will be able to find the right custody arrangement for the children.

Reports have speculated that a reality TV show such as The Real Housewives would put an unbearable strain on a relationship. It’s definitely possible that the couple’s divorce might not be quite as complicated or nasty if cameras had not been following their every move.

High-profile divorces in Los Angeles (or Hollywood) can get very messy, just like any other divorce. But at the end of the day, hopefully the court will determine a custody arrangement that is the healthiest environment for their kids.

Los Angeles County Divorce for Vanessa Marcil

Former “90210” and “General Hospital” star Vanessa Marcil has filed for divorce in Los Angeles County, TMZ reported.

Marcil reportedly wants her husband to pay her attorney’s fees and she’s asking the LA Court to award her spousal support.

In California, there are two types of alimony that could generally be awarded to Marcil: Permanent support, which is the support given at the conclusion of the divorce going forward, and temporary support, awarded to maintain the status quo during the divorce. In determining support, the judge will consider factors from both parties such as: earning capacity, marketable skills, standard of living, and debts and financial assets.

Side note: Marcil and “90210” co-star Brian Austin Green used to date and had a son together in 2002.

Amy Poehler and Will Arnett Separating

One of America’s favorite and funniest couples, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett are separating after nine years of marriage, US Weekly exclusively reported. The couple are parents to sons Archie, 3, and Abel, 2.

Their joint credits include Blades of Glory, Arrested DevelopmentHorton Hears a Who!, On Broadway, Spring Breakdown, Parks and Recreation, and Monsters vs. Aliens.

Comedy fans around the nation are up in arms over the separation, and people are wondering what will happen to their children considering both of their busy, demanding careers.

Child custody should be, and usually is, based on what’s best for the children. There are many forms of custody, including alternating, shared, bird’s nest, joint, sole, split, and third-party.

Poehler and Arnett will need to create a visitation schedule for family members (grandparents, etc). If a non-custodial parent is selected, he/she would need to pay child support. During early childhood, it’s best to provide a stable home base for children. Archie and Abel might be best off living with a “core parent of attachment”, the parent most involved in the child’s first year. Many people believe that proper child development needs familiarity: same bed to sleep, presence of parent attachment, etc.

There are a lot of difficult decisions to make when facing a separation or divorce, especially in child custody. We wish Amy Poehler and Will Arnett all the best!
