How Russell Brand Has Stayed Positive after Divorce from Katy Perry

Russell Brand in Los Angeles March 2011

British actor and comedian Russell Brand has recently spilled the beans about how he has remained happy even through his divorce to singer-songwriter Katy Perry, which was finalized in January.

In an interview with People magazine, Brand revealed his secrets to staying positive during the much-publicized break up. “You don’t need to brush it off if you don’t get it on you in the first place. I don’t have to let anything go. I don’t hold on to anything negative. It’s the same as zero-ness,” he said.

Perhaps Brand’s attitude of impermanence has something to do with his Kundalini yoga practice, which is said to bring peace of mind to both body and spirit. “I like Kundalini yoga,” says Brand in the People interview.

Regarding his positive state towards his divorce, Brand says “it’s not about letting it go. You can’t let go of something you don’t hold, you know. It’s meaningless…much of our world is predicated on meaninglessness. And I don’t do that anymore.”

While Real Housewife of OC Tamra Barney’s Divorce is Final, She’s Engaged to be Married Again!

Bravo TV's Andy Cohen and Real Housewives of Orange County cast mate Tamra Barney smile in New York City.

Real Housewives of Orange County star and mother of four Tamra Barney has a new title: divorcee. Yes, her divorce from former husband Simon Barney is final as of last week. Plus, she’s recently become engaged to be married for their third time to hot boyfriend Eddie Judge.

In a video on RadarOnline with OC castmate Vicki Gunvalson, Barney opened up about her feelings. “I will be signing my divorce papers next week and it’s been a longtime coming,” she confessed to Gunvalson. Then Barney exclaims: “Oh sh#*! Here we go!'”

Barney’s husband Simon filed for divorce in 2010 claiming Tamra “has been verbally abusive and has committed acts of disloyalty and infidelity,” so say the official court records.

Later in a scene from a Real Housewives episode, Tamra admitted to filing a restraining order against control freak husband Simon after he threw a dog leash at her.

“I think whether your marriage works or not it’s sad to walk away from something, you feel like a failure. I’ve been with Simon for fifteen years. That’s a big chunk of my life and to know that it’s all over by signing these papers is difficult,” she says to Gunvalson in the RadarOnline video.

Tamra goes on to discuss divorce and her children. “It’s hard when you have little kids not to take all the blame as a parent because you’re devastating their lives,” she says. “I just feel like a failure, as a mother it just sucks so bad.”

Perhaps the third marriage will be the charm for Tamra, who was recently engaged to hunky boyfriend and Real Housewives castmate Eddie Judge.

Are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver Divorcing or Reconciling?

Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger in Los Angeles June 2011

Are former California governor and “terminator” Arnold Schwarzenegger and his high profile wife Maria Shriver divorcing or reconciling? In a series of recent interviews and among rampant rumors about the Schwarzenegger-Shriver split, it seems the divorce is moving forward although the final outcome is still unclear.

Speculations of a reconciliation came last month when a New York Post story (via “unnamed sources”) claimed the super star couple was seeing a marriage counselor. The story claims Shriver was considering getting back together with hubby Arnold because of her Catholic faith. Plus, the story led readers to believe that Schwarzenegger was repentant and was seeking to reconcile with Shriver for political reasons

On the same day the Post story hit the stands, the couple was seen having lunch together and shopping for furniture inLos Angeles. Shriver bought a $12.2 million Brentwood mansion and moved in there – along with the couple’s four children – in late February.

Whatever the truth about their estrangement, Schwarzenegger did talk to Mario Lopez on the TV show Extra last week about co-parenting with his wife during their separation and divorce process.

During the interview, Schwarzenegger said he’s been “spending a lot of time on (his) personal life, making sure the children grow up well-adjusted and that they get a great education.”

“Luckily, Maria has been a terrific mother,” he said. “We work together even though we’re going through a divorce. We make sure that the kids grow up to be really good human beings.”

Shriver filed for divorce in July 2011 after discovering Schwarzenegger had an affair with the couple’s maid, Mildred Baena, and had fathered a “secret” child with her. Schwarzenegger and Shriver were married in 1986.

Christie Brinkley Goes Back to Divorce Court Over Defamation and Child Custody

Christie Brinkley wears Pamella Roland at The Heart Truth's Red Dress Collection 2012 Fashion Show at the Hammerstein Ballroom on February 8, 2012 in New York City.

Although former top model and entrepreneur Christie Brinkley and husband Peter Cook divorced in 2008, their relationship continues to be rocky with allegations of defamation and failure to pay child support. They couple has two children: Jack, 16, and Sailor, 13.

Brinkley claims Cook owes her $140,000 because he allegedly sent offensive emails to her as well as another $32,000 in unpaid child support payments. How could he owe her so much for just sending emails? Reportedly, the couple’s 2008 settlement orders them to pay $5,000 for each derogatory remark.

However, it’s Cook who says Brinkley owes him.

“The problem is that Ms. Brinkley filed a claim that I wasn’t paying child support when she took off to do Broadway last March through June,” claims Cook in a recent interview with ABC News. “She put the children in my fulltime care, so I wrote her lawyers and said, ‘Hey, she’s gone, I got the children fulltime. How about we reverse child support for this time period?

“I’m here not to attack Christie Brinkley, but to defend myself, because to be called a deadbeat dad to me is such a horrible, vengeful, spiteful thing to say, besides the fact that it’s totally untrue.”

In retaliation, Brinkley’s attorney Tom Campagna released this statement to Access Hollywood. “Peter Cook continues to go on national television to malign his ex-wife and hurt his family by spreading lies in a desperate smear campaign. The Court granted Christie sole legal and residential custody and final decision making power for their children – Peter’s claims of being the ‘primary caregiver’ are delusional. In contrast to her ex-husband, Christie has honored the confidentiality agreement and follows Court orders, and when she’s away for more than two days, per the Court, the kids are required to be with their father —something Christie fought against. And her bitter ex even prevented Christie, a working mom, from seeing her kids on her one day off from performing.”

“His claims of paying twice his child support are a joke, and in fact, he’s been regularly behind in payments. But Christie will not take the bait and, while it is painful, she will stand up for herself and her children and refuses to be bullied,” adds Campagna.

After this announcement, Cook himself went on the Today show to settle the record in the court of public opinion.

“The entire content of her interview was a lie where she claims that I am harassing and bullying her on a daily basis,” he said in the interview. “I need you to know that we haven’t had a conversation in four-and-a-half years and we haven’t emailed each other directly in two years, so this perception that I’m harassing and bullying her is nonsense.”

“I want peace for my family,” continued Cook.” “I want peace for myself. I want to be able to do my job, see my kids and live without the Christie Brinkley shadow over me. That’s all I ask.”

Is your divorce bringing seemingly never-ending conflict to your family? A qualified family law lawyer can help you out of the mess and stress of child support and custody.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand Reach Divorce Settlement

Katy Perry and Russell Brand

Katy Perry and Russell Brand in Los Angeles November 2011.

After filing for divorce in late December, English actor and comedian Russell Brand, 36, and singer and songwriter Katy Perry, 27, have reached a settlement, according to papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Even though the couple was married only two years, have no children and did not sign a prenuptial agreement, Brand told People magazine that the settlement focuses on the couple’s property and not on spousal support or splitting the couple’s financial assets.

Plus, it seems Perry is intent on changing her legal name back to Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson.

Unlike two stars getting together, most couples don’t have multi-millions in the bank before they get married. Still, the best way to protect your pre-marital assets is a pre-nuptial agreement.

“One way to make sure you have continued financial success despite a failed marriage is to do what celebrities do: negotiate a pre-nuptial agreement,” so says family law lawyer-to-the-stars Aaron Dishon of Irvine, Calif.-based Dishon & Block Divorce Attorneys.

“If you are contemplating marriage and want to protect your pre-marriage assets and properties, then it’s best to work with a qualified family law attorney to draft a pre-nuptial agreement for your current assets and your future financial status,” says Dishon.

Heidi Klum and Seal Divorce Focuses on The Kids

Heidi Klum in Los Angeles March 2012

Fashionista and TV producer Heidi Klum, 38, and husband of seven years singer Seal, 49, may have officially separated in January, but the ongoing divorce process hasn’t been easy on this high profile couple and their four children (Leni, 7, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2).

“I feel like I’m in the eye of a tornado,” says Klum in the April issue of Elle magazine. “Sometimes I think a curveball just comes at you. Instead of something straight that you can catch, it hits you in the head from the side that you didn’t expect.”

This is one of the few interviews Klum has given since the split, especially since ex-hubby Seal has been talking way too much about their marriage. So, what has Klum been doing to deal with her new life?

“I’m a lioness,” says Klum in the Elle interview. “I have four cubs. I’m a mom. I want to take care of my kids and protect them. I don’t want to talk about them, or him, or me.”

As for Seal, he says the children come first too. “We talk to them, we tried to explain, as best we could, what is going on,” he said in an interview on Access Hollywood Live.

“And the main thing is to make sure that they feel that they’re loved, make sure that they understand that their parents love each other, make sure that they understand if there are any changes, it is absolutely nothing to do with them,” explained Seal. “And it won’t change the amount of time – and – in actual fact, it may even improve the amount of time that we spend with them – quality time – because it’s not the amount of time, as you know being a family man yourself, it’s the quality of that time.”

Do you feel like a lioness who wants to protect her cubs or a lion who wants to spend quality time with his kids? “The best way to deal with all the stresses of divorce as well as your children’s emotional health  is to set up a divorce team that includes a reputable divorce lawyer, a family therapist and a financial planner,” says family law lawyer-to-the-stars Aaron Dishon of Irvine, Calif.-based Dishon & Block Divorce Attorneys.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries Divorce Runs Rocky Amid Settlement Rumors

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian smiles in August 2011.

After just 72 days of marriage, Kim Kardashian and New Jersey Nets star Kris Humphries’ divorce is still dragging on amid rumors of Kardiashian coming to a multi-million dollar settlement with Humphries to avoid a public trial.

But is it true? Did handsome drink-of-water Humphries recently request $7 million from sultry vixen Kardashian to end this supposed sham marriage quickly and quietly?

“Neither Kris Humphries nor his legal team have spread these rumors nor will they,” says a statement by Humphries’ legal team that appeared on HollywoodLife.com. “While we are encouraged to see an apparent willingness by the other side to put big numbers out in an attempt to settle Mr. Humphries’ claims, we respect and will continue to observe the integrity of the legal process. This case will be resolved not in the court of public opinion amidst ridiculous and defamatory allegations and personal attacks directed against Kris Humphries. Rather, this case will be appropriately investigated and litigated professionally and with integrity.”

While rumors persist, the couple actually signed a pre-nuptial agreement with celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser (who has represented Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears, among many other celebrities) before the wedding, which would have made certain that Kardashian would not have to pay Humphries a large cash settlement.

Dennis Quaid’s Wife Files for Divorce

Dennis Quaid in Beverly Hills December 2011

Actor Dennis Quaid has split from his third wife in what has become a rather nasty and messy divorce. Kimberly Buffington-Quaid, whom the 57- year-old Quaid married in 2004, filed for divorce in 2011.

“The marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities … that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation,” so says Buffington-Quaid in a statement.

The divorce is another unfortunate story in the life of the couple’s children. Now four years old, the Quaid’s twins almost died after staff atCedars-Sinai Medical Center accidently gave the newborns an overdose amount of the drug Heparin.

For now, the couple has agreed to a temporary custody order, which gives both parents time with the children and does not allow either mother Kimberly or father Dennis to take the kids out of school or out of the state.

Speaking of Quaid’s children, his 19-year-old son Jack (whose mother is Meg Ryan) stars in the upcoming smash hit, The Hunger Games.

Divorces can become emotionally disturbing when it comes to the kids.

Halle Berry Hires New Lawyer for Child Custody Case

Halle Berry in Beverly Hills April 17 2012

A-list actress Halle Berry has fired her longtime lawyer Neil Hersh in favor of hard-hitting custody attorney Stephen Kolodny. Why? It seems single mother Berryis thinking about moving to France to avoid the glaring cameras of the paparazzi.

Berry is hoping the move brings about a more “normal” life for her and her daughter Nahla. Daddy Gabriel Aubry — who already must have supervised visits with his daughter after shoving a nanny with the girl in his arms — has not commented about the potential change of custody and countries.

“It’s extremely difficult to get the green light on an international change of address when child custody is involved,” so says family law lawyer-to-the-stars Aaron Dishon of Irvine, Calif.-based Dishon & Block Divorce Attorneys.

“The courts are most concerned with maintaining the continuity and stability of a child’s relationship with both parents, especially if the children are young and the move would forever undermine one parent’s relationship with the child,” says Dishon.

Stars Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli Split

Jenni Garth and Peter Facinelli

Jenni Garth and Peter Facinelli in Los Angeles November 2011.

After almost 11 years of marriage, TV star Jennie Garth (Beverly Hills 90210) and movie star Peter Facinelli (Twilight, Can’t Hardly Wait, Nurse Jackie) have decided to split. The couple has three daughters, Luca Bella (14), Lola Ray (9) and Fiona Eve (5).

“While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children,” says the couple’s official statement. “We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time.”

The two actors were wed in 2001. They met in 1996 while shooting the TV movie An Unfinished Affair.

The Twitterverse is “sad” and “depressed” about the Garth/Facinelli divorce as this good-looking couple seemed to be the darling of Hollywood couples.

With three children and busy careers, these two actors now have the same problems as most newly-divorced couples. How do you split up your marriage, your households and still keep the kids happy?

“The best way to deal with all the stresses of divorce as well as your children’s emotional health  is to set up a divorce team that includes a reputable divorce lawyer, a family therapist and a financial planner,” says family law lawyer-to-the-stars Aaron Dishon of Irvine, Calif.-based Dishon & Block Divorce Attorneys.
